Faking it – a Desire to Deceive
Susan Rumfitt

Susan Rumfitt is one of the jewellery experts from BBC Antiques Roadshow.

"In today's society we are used to wearing costume jewellery and buying stones that have been enhanced to meet demand. How and when did this become an acceptable practice? From counterfeit balas rubies in the Cheapside Hoard to the foiling of precious gemstones and from the introduction of cultured pearls, this Day of Special Interest will take you on an exciting journey of the intriguing behaviour of gemstone dealers and jewellers across Europe from £1500 in their quest to deceive."

Our new location for this event is The Retreat New Forest, Hinton BH23 7EF. Tickets (£42) are available to Members from November 2024 and Visitors from January 2025.

Email newmilton@theartssociety.org for more information. A buffet lunch, tea and coffee are included.

As well as being an accredited lecturer for the Arts Society, Susan is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
